Using bold colors and lines to lead the eye in a swirl, this piece uses imagery to represent popular East Asian media from the past few years layered on top of yellow whistles, which are the symbol of the #StopAsianHate campaign. Lotus flowers in Buddhism represent rebirth and resilience, as it blooms from muddy water. The trains represent the movies Snowpiercer (directed by Bong Joonho) and Train to Busan (directed by Yeon Sangho). The mask and "squid" pattern are from the viral Korean drama Squid Game (by Hwang Donghyuk). All three pieces of media contain social commentary on the treatment of gender and class. Despite the popularity of all three, many people tend to refuse to consume non-English media just because they have to read subtitles.
