Abstraction, Representation, Symbolism

This assignment was a study of the three forms of composition in the title. Using photos I took of a silver tea strainer I own, zooming in on the strainer or its shadow literally represented the object. Using the logo of the tea strainer brand, or simplifying the logo to just F&M, I used a symbol for what the object is. Finally, I abstracted the strainer by creating a line drawing that alludes to its general shape, as well as liquified designs to resemble steam from a cup of tea. The same concepts were used to create compositions from a keyboard switch and gel nail polish.
